Furnishing a small bedroom is a challenging task. The furniture needs to be arranged in a way that makes the room appear more spacious. Here are some great bedroom furniture ideas:

1. Have an illusion of height.
Play with the bedroom's window treatment in order to bring the windows up. Hang the curtain rods around 15 inches above the window in order to give off the illusion of height. Use light-colored fabrics for the curtains. If your draperies are heavy and dark-colored, the room will look smaller.

2. Choose the right paint colors.
Paint the bedroom a pale or light color, with a white ceiling. The light colors will reflect the room's light and will maximise the sense of space in the bedroom.

3. Place flooring with diagonal lining.
If you can, try to use ceramic tiles or wood-strip flooring that run in diagonal lines. Lines that are parallel or perpendicular to the walls can make a room seem smaller than it actually is.

4. Keep your bed low.
Keep your bed as close to the ground as possible. A large bed may seem overwhelming in a small room. Reduce the mass of the bed by using a simple mattress frame.

5. Minimise the use of patterns.
Stay away from loud patterns such as flowers, plaids, polka dots, and stripes. Keeping things simple will make a small bedroom seem much bigger.

6. Be smart with your storage.
Maximise the storage space in your room. When purchasing a bedside table, look for one with drawers. Add wall shelves for books and accessories and make them a point of interest. Maximise your closet space by placing baskets and additional shelves.
